Leah currently has over 15 years of experience working with children and young people. She has worked with primary aged children in a variety of educational settings after she gained her master’s degree of education. From 2016 to 2018, Leah has trained as a Play Therapist to master degree level in University of South Wales as she is always keen to improve children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Leah is a fully qualified member of the British Association of Play Therapist (BAPT), her practice is supervised and meets BAPT ethical standards.
Leah has extensive work experience in different settings such as an organization which supported children and families that had suffered from domestic violence; therapeutic clinics and local school settings.
Leah’s experience includes working with children who have experienced trauma, neglect or abuse, as well as those dealing with loss and bereavement. She has also worked with children described as having withdrawal/aggressive/acting out/anger issues, and with those experiencing self-regulation or sensory processing difficulties, such as ADHD and Autism.
Leah has the ability to attune with children and young people and to understand how they are feeling. Her commitment to enabling and empowering young people helps them turn their life around, become resilient and reach their potential based on their individual needs.
She also works together with parents, carers and teachers, providing therapeutic strategies to enable them to effectively support children and young people.
As a DDP Level 2 practitioner, Leah provides attachment focused family therapy and parenting support to help developmentally traumatised children.
Leah has a special academic interest in family breakdown and childhood trauma, and she is passionate about offering specialized assistance to neurodiverse individuals.
